Origins and attitudes

Pony from the United States. The origins are uncertain: it seems to derive from horses that survived a shipwreck at the beginning of the colonial era. These horses, landed on the uninhabited islands of Chincoteague and Assateague, have been breeding for a long time in the wild. When they were discovered, they began to breed them, also crossing them with Pony Welsh to soften their forms. Due to its difficult character, it is rarely used (as a field saddle and light shot). Frugal, rustic and resistant to adverse climatic conditions.
